Caerphilly firm PHS buys out English rival

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 15:00, Wednesday March 2nd, 2011.

PHS Group, the Caerphilly-based workplace services company, has bought out a rival to continue its expansion into the south east of England.

The firm’s PHS Recordsmanagement division, which specialises in document and data management, has bought Southampton-based FileStore. The value of the deal has been kept confidential.

Since embarking on its expansion program three years ago, PHS Recordsmanagement has been steadily increasing its off-site storage capacity.

The company said the latest acquisition gains facilities in Southampton, extending PHS Recordsmanagement’s geographical coverage to include Hampshire, Wiltshire, West Sussex, Berkshire, Devon, Somerset and Cornwall.

With existing sites serving the Midlands, Bristol and London areas, the additional six storage facilities attached to FileStore will increase PHS Recordsmanagement’s box capacity by a further 850,000.

It is the second piece of significant news for PHS Group, based on Caerphilly’s Western Industrial Estate, after it announced a sale and lease deal of its head office.

Specialist commercial property investor Deekay has bought the 34,000 sq ft office in a £3.6m deal while PHS Group has agreed to a 25-year lease on the premises.
