Visitors to Caerphilly Castle will have a chance to get up close to Dr Who’s Tardis this weekend ahead of the BBC Proms in the Park.

The time machine, from the popular BBC 1 science fiction show, will be on show at the castle until September 12.

People wanting to get a glimpse of the blue box prior to the BBC Proms in the Park can get free entry to Caerphilly Castle on September 10 as part of The Civic Trust Open Doors event.

Tickets for the BBC Proms in the Park can be bought online at www.blackwoodminersinstitute.com or by calling The Visit Caerphilly Centre on 029 1088 0011 to book over the telephone.

Tickets are just £10 per adult. Children 12 and under are free with an accompanying adult. Tickets on the night will be sold at £12.

Prior to the main event the council has organised ‘Fringefest’. From 12pm until 4pm, street performances and music will entertain visitors from the moment they park their car, get off the train, step off the bus or walk into town.

  • Arriva Trains Wales Caerphilly to Cardiff service has been extended with two extra trains at 11pm and 11.15pm. The Caerphilly to Ystrad Mynach service at 10.35pm has been extended to Rhymney.
