Islwyn MP urges people to sign NHS petition

Islwyn MP Chris Evans is urging people add their name to a Labour Party campaign supporting the NHS.

Shadow Secretary of State for Health John Healey recently launched the campaign called We Love the NHS.

Mr Evans said: “Whenever I have asked people if they love the NHS and, if so, what they love about it, they always seem to tell me they love it because it is always there when you need it, and it is free. There are people living abroad who look on the NHS with envy and that is why we must do all that we can to save it.

“We should not take for granted the tremendous work that our health professionals in the NHS do every day, whether they are doctors, nurses, cleaners or administrators.

“Not all aspects of health are devolved to the Welsh Assembly and the attack on the NHS from the coalition will have a serious impact on staff and hospitals across the UK.

“I urge everyone who loves the NHS to join the fight to save it from the damaging effects of the plans by the Con-Dem coalition that threaten the very nature of what we know, rely on and love about the NHS.

“So my message is if you love the NHS then stand up for it.”
