New tenants set up stall in Caerphilly Indoor Market

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 13:00, Tuesday March 15th, 2011.

More tenants have set up their stalls in the re-opened Caerphilly Indoor Market.

The first phase of the market opened in December, but now more tenants have moved in as part of a second phase of the development.

Local brothers David and Alan Prosser are backing the project to restore the indoor market to its former glory.

Cllr Ron Davies said: “I was delighted to be asked to open the second phase of the scheme and it’s great to see even more businesses coming on board. The redevelopment of the indoor market is a welcome boost for Caerphilly and demonstrates the increasing confidence in the town centre.”

The long awaited revival of the market hall, which was first opened in 1927 and is situated on Pentrebane Street, off Cardiff Road.

The market traders will be helping to raise money for Comic Relief this weekend, with various fundraising activities. Stall holder Simon Cook will be undertaking a 5,000 metre sponsored row in a Borat-style?man-kini?.

Keep up the good work Alan and David, its a tribute to your hard work that the market is a success. If Rudry Co Op are reading please go and see the market as a means to sell your goods.
