A director at Ystrad Mynach based firm Utility and Environmental Solutions (UES) has been highly commended at a prestigious business award.

UES non-executive director Andrew Padmore received the accolade at the Institute of Directors (IoD) Director of the Year Awards in London.

Mr Padmore was honoured alongside other Welsh business directors.

IoD Wales director Robert Lloyd Griffiths said: “This event celebrated the very best in British business and it was wonderful that three Welsh enterprise leaders were among those in the spotlight.

“It’s well document how times are difficult just now, but individuals who practice leadership at the same level as those honoured will be among those crucial to building the economy once more.”

Those to be highly commended were:
Ben Roberts, managing director of Clogau Gold of Wales, Bodelwyddan, near Rhyl (family business category); Huw Jones, managing director and chairman of Jones Bros Civil Engineering, of Ruthin, near Wrexham (family business); and Andrew Padmore, managing director of energy consultancy UES (environmental leadership).

Also shortlisted were Claire Evans, chief financial officer of Atlas Elektronik, Newport (young director category); and Drewe Lacey, chairman of Alchemy Wealth Management, Chepstow (family business category).
