Grant boost for new Caerphilly construction firm

A Caerphilly-based construction company is celebrating after receiving a grant boost to get the business off the ground.

Martyn Fear and Martin Beechey set up E and M Construction Services after being made redundant from their previous jobs.

The firm manufactures bespoke concrete products primarily for the construction industry and has set up a base at Pontygwyndy Industrial Estate in Caerphilly.

E and M Construction Services have been awarded a Local Investment Fund grant towards the costs of capital equipment and to help design a website for the business. The firm has already taken on its first employees and is aiming to grow further in the near future.

The Local Investment Fund is a scheme that has been made available to 15 local authorities across the West Wales and the Valleys or Convergence region, including six local authorities in South East Wales. They have been awarded EU Funding through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), delivered through the Welsh Assembly Government, to provide grant funding to Businesses or business start-ups.

Eligible expenditure for the Local Investment Fund Grant includes:

Capital Equipment
Marketing
E Commerce
ICT
External & Internal Building works and alterations

The business must be a under 250 employees in the manufacturing, service to manufacturing, business-to-business service sector (minimum75% business to business) or tourism.

The scheme can fund up to 40% of eligible expenditure normally to a maximum of £5000
