Jade Bourke, marketing manager at Bedwas-based DS Smith Recycling, won New Marketer at this year's Canmol: Wales Marketing Awards.

Bedwas-based DS Smith Recycling is celebrating after the company’s marketing manager, Jade Bourke scooped the title of New Marketer at this year’s Canmol: Wales Marketing Awards.

The winners included Merthyr-based Royvon Dog Boarding Kennels, BBC Cymru Wales, Cardiff-based AutosOnShow.TV, Bridgend-based Staedtler UK and Visit Wales. Newport University’s Sue Cole was also honoured with the CIM Wales Business Insider Outstanding Contribution Award.

Jade Bourke joined the recycling and waste management company as a marketing assistant in 2009, after gaining experience in the sales and account management sector. She was quickly promoted to marketing manager after two and a half years and is now responsible for implementing the company’s marketing strategy.

Dr Jonathan Deacon, Chair Judge of the Canmol: Wales Marketing Awards, said: “Jade already has a long list of achievements in her career, but what made Jade stand out is her passion for marketing, her determination to succeed and her interest in helping to develop other new marketers.

“It’s no overstatement to say that the future of the marketing industry lies in the hands of new marketers like Jade. And with a strong interest in digital media, bags of enthusiasm and creativity, she is sure to stay at the forefront of the industry.”

Now in its fourth year, Canmol: Wales Marketing Awards was launched by The Chartered Institute of Marketing in July 2008 to celebrate and promote excellence in the marketing industry in Wales and to recognise the best marketers in the business.
