UPDATE: CCTV images of Pontllanfraith betting shop armed robbery released

Gwent Police is appealing for information and witnesses following an armed robbery at Ladbrokes, in Commercial Street, Pontllanfraith.

The robbery took place at 8.20pm on Monday October 17.

Two men entered the shop armed with a shot gun and a knife and demanded money from the cashier. An amount of cash was stolen and the two men made off.

No one was injured, although the two members of staff present at the time were left shaken.

One robber was wearing a blue hooded top with a small yellow square label on the rear between the shoulder blades, and blue cargo style trousers.

The other was wearing a green camouflage style hooded top and dark coloured tracksuit bottoms with three line fluorescent stripes down the side of the legs.

Detective Superintendent Paul Griffiths, who is leading the investigation, said: “I am keen for any information to identify who is responsible for this crime, and appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time to report any activity they may have seen which they believe to be suspicious.”

If the public see individuals fitting the descriptions given they are advised not to approach them, but to contact the police immediately on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
