Caerphilly Council event will celebrate work of volunteers

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 17:00, Thursday October 20th, 2011.

The valuable contribution made by volunteers across Caerphilly County Borough will be celebrated at a special annual event later this week.

Representatives from more than 60 organisations serving the community will come together at the annual ‘One Beat’ Voluntary Sector Awareness Day on Saturday October 22 between 11am and 1pm at Caerphilly County Borough Council’s headquarters Penallta House.

Once again this year, the organisations are encouraging residents and their families to come along and find out more about the outstanding work of a vast network of volunteers, who serve the community so tirelessly.

Cllr Vera Jenkins, Mayor of Caerphilly County Borough Council, will welcome guests to the event this Saturday.

She said: “I am full of admiration for the wonderful work that voluntary sector organisations do in our communities, and this event provides a real opportunity to celebrate this work.”

The 2012 edition of the Caerphilly County Borough Community Directory, which contains hundreds of useful contact details for local community groups, will also be launched at the event.
