A new traffic signal junction providing direct access to the multi-million pound Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr has opened.
The junction, off the A469 dual carriageway in Ystrad Mynach, has been created as part of the ongoing wider highway improvement works in the area to improve traffic flow around the new hospital.
Cllr Rob Gough, cabinet member for transportation said: “This major improvement scheme in Ystrad Mynach will have a positive impact on traffic flow at this key strategic location.
“The completion of the new junction will give motorists direct access to and from the hospital via the A469 and we are now looking forward to seeing the exciting new facility become operational later this month along with completion of the the remaing A472 and A469 highway improvements at Royal Oak roundabout and Cwm Du by Spring 2012.”
The A&E unit will close at Caerphilly Miners’ Hospital at 12 noon on Saturday November 12. These services will be available in the new Local Emergency Centre at Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr from 9am on Monday November 14.
