Ebbw Vale haulage company prosecuted by Caerphilly Council for environmental offences

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 09:00, Tuesday November 8th, 2011.

A haulage company from Ebbw Vale has successfully prosecuted by Caerphilly County Borough Council and fined for offences under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

Robin’s Haulage, of Beaufort Hill, Ebbw Vale, was taken to court for two cases of breach of duty of care regarding commercial waste.

Both cases related to separate incidents of Robin’s Haulage allowing commercial waste to escape their control from a lorry along the A467 Crosskeys to Pontywaun road.

The case was heard at Caerphilly Magistrates’ Court on Friday October 21.

The company partners Scott Robins, Lee Robins and Kevin Robins, attended court and pleaded guilty to the two offences. They were ordered to pay a total fine of £1,500 as well as £100 each for both cases and a £15 victim surcharge.

Cllr Rob Gough, cabinet member for public protection said: “Offences such as this have a real detrimental impact on our environment, and I hope this case will act as a warning to others that these environmental offences will not go undetected.”
