About 130 people took part in this year’s Great Gwent Poppy Run raising thousands of pounds for the Royal British Legion.
Islwyn MP Chris Evans took part in Saturday’s run at Cwmcarn Forest Drive with his Parliamentary Assistant Dave Knowles.
Each of the 130 or so runners pledged to raise £90 – a pound for each year the Royal British Legion has been in existence.
Mr Evans, who completed the seven mile course in under an hour, said: “It was great to see so many people come and do their bit for the Royal British Legion.
“It was a challenging route but it was fantastic to see so many people complete the course for our servicemen and women. In Islwyn there are many ex -service families and the advice and support given to them by the legion is invaluable.
“As we enter Remembrance Week it just shows that we can all do our bit whether large or small to help the Royal British Legion.”
