A company which makes nut-free cakes has announced it is to double its workforce from 30 to 60.
The Just Love Food Factory, in Oakdale Business Park, started production in April last year and turnover its turnover is reported at £1.3m.
The firm has an exclusive deal with supermarket giant Sainsbury’s which sells the cakes in more than 200 stores nationwide.
The brainchild of former Avana Bakeries and Memory Lane Cakes managing director, Mike Woods, the Just Love Food Company produces baked goods for nut allergy sufferers after Mr Woods struggled for many years to find products on the market suitable for his two children with nut allergies.
Identifying a gap in the UK market for the supply of nut-free bakery products, Mr Woods decided to use his experience of the food sector to establish the niche business.
The company, which produces 7,000 cakes a week, has plans to export to Canada and Australia and from February will see its cakes in Tesco as part of a deal to supply 40 South Wales stores.
