Hundreds of people attended Remembrance Day services across Caerphilly County Borough on Sunday.

In Caerphilly town, the annual parade took place through the town centre and down to the cenotaph at the Twyn.

Local politicians, dignitaries and representatives from the Royal British Legion and other groups laid wreaths. The Last Post was played, followed by two minutes silence.

In Pontllanfraith, around 100 people turned out at the ceremony at Pontllanfraith House.

It was good to see a bugler playing the last post. In recent years there has often been a recorded version. A live rendition adds much to the atmosphere of reverence and sets the scene for the rememberance service that follows. The weather was kind too, which makes a change!
