Caerphilly County Borough’s Youth Forum has elected its new cabinet.

The political body represents the views of young people and gives them a voice when dealing with Caerphilly County Borough Council.

There were eight roles that the young people campaigned for and after a hard-fought battle, which included speeches and election leaflets, the votes were cast and counted.

The new Cabinet is:
– Ambassador – Fern Price
– Chair – Nia Rolls
– Vice Chair – Lewis Harding
– Fundraising Officer – Shelby Jones
– Media Officer – Lauren Prosser
– Funky Dragon Reps – Fern Price, Lewis Harding, Jonny Chan, Nathan Flanagan
– Environmental Rep – Gerriant Jones Griffiths (Deputy – Joel Price)
– Education Rep – Jordan Rees (Deputy – Lowri Jones)
– Regeneration Rep – Eiry Allender (Deputy – Rose Marie Davies)
– Health Rep – Paige Cherrington (Deputy – William Harris)

The cabinet, along with representatives from the schools, youth clubs voluntary project and youth projects from all over the county borough will be looking to address this year’s priority issue – helping to further improve Caerphilly County Borough’s parks.

Fundraising Officer Shelby Jones and the newly elected Health Rep Paige Cherrington, accompanied by the Mayor of Caerphilly County Borough Council, Cllr Vera Jenkins, also presented a cheque to Liz Andrews from Cancer Research Wales for £758.92.

The Youth Forum raised the amount during the past year.
