UPDATE: Escaped murderer arrested in the Caerphilly area

A convicted murderer with links to Caerphilly has escaped from HMP Prescoed.

Wyndham Richard Thomas, 33, was convicted for aggravated burglary and murder in 1997 and was serving a life sentence. He is not a registered sex offender. He is described as white, 5ft 7in tall, medium build with a scar on the right side of his forehead.

It is believed he has contacts throughout the South Wales areas, particularly Caerphilly and Maesteg and police have said he may be a potential risk to the public.

Thomas, from Croeserw, was convicted along with, Alan Naylor and Christopher Chislett, for breaking into a house in Maesteg in July 2007.

Taxi driver Christopher Williams was fatally stabbed in the heart after he confronted the trio when he returned to find them burgling his house.

Members of the public are advised not to approach Wyndham Thomas and to call Gwent Police on 01633 838111.
