An escaped murderer who went on the run from HMP Prescoed has been arrested by police.
Wyndham Richard Thomas, 33, was convicted for aggravated burglary and murder in 1998 and was serving a life sentence.
Gwent Police have been looking for Thomas since his escape on Wednesday and have confirmed he has been arrested at an address in the Caerphilly area. He is currently in police custody.
Detective Superintendent Martyn Dew said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank both the media and the public for their co-operation and assistance in locating this individual who was found following extensive enquiries by specialist officers.”
A 39-year-old woman from the Caerphilly area has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
