Politics students at Coleg Gwent’s Crosskeys campus recently gave Islwyn MP Chris Evans a grilling.

Mr Evans was visiting the campus to speak to the students about his work in Parliament after their recent visit to the House of Commons.

After meeting with politics lecturer Rob Southall, Mr Evans was quizzed by students on a variety of issues including tuition fees and jobs for young people.

Mr Evans said: ‘”Anyone who thinks that young people are not interested in politics could not be more wrong. I was very impressed by the passion and enthusiasm of the students and they asked me some tough questions.

“I would not be surprised to see some of them in the House of Commons as Members of Parliament a few years from now.”

Coleg Gwent is holding an information evening on Wednesday January 18 from 5pm until 8pm. For more information please visit www.coleggwent.ac.uk
