Coleg Gwent students to help heroes with fundraiser

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 11:00, Monday November 8th, 2010.

A group of students from Coleg Gwent’s Crosskeys Campus will be remembering men and women who lost their lives in military conflict and raising money for those wounded in present day battles on Armistice Day, Thursday November 11.

Second year National Diploma Health and Social Care students will be raising money for the Help for Heroes charity by dressing up, selling cakes and holding a ‘name the Army bear’ competition.

Student Alex Worgan said: “We hope to raise a substantial amount of money to help a charity that is close to the hearts of many of us. I hope people will come along to the event and show their support.”

Their tutor Penny Jones said: “We’ve been holding these events for the past few years but this is the first time that the students have chosen Help for Heroes and it’s a good opportunity to highlight the work they do for wounded servicemen and women.

“We hope to raise even more this year and students are working hard to make the event a success.”
