Bedwas-based pie maker Peter’s Food Service has appointed a new managing director of its food service division as it plans for expansion.
Neil Court-Johnston has joined from rival firm Holland’s Pies to push the Peter’s brand on a national scale.
Mike Grimwood, managing director of the Peter’s Group, said: “With our portfolio of products and a growing reputation for quality, service and innovation, Peter’s presents an exceptional opportunity to develop nationally. In Neil, we have attracted someone who is well equipped with the necessary ambition, talent and know-how to lead the next phase of our business growth.”
Mr Court-Johnston, 40, has said he is looking forward to his new role.
He said: “Peter’s is a dynamic business and I look forward to helping it realise its vision to be recognised as the leading innovator of savoury pastry in UK. My priorities will be to develop the Peter’s brand within foodservice, work harder to ensure that we always meet our customers’ needs and grow our business through new sales channels. I’m very much looking forward to the challenge.”
Mr Court-Johnson left Holland’s Pies, based near Accrington, after he was suspended earlier this year for allegedly discussing a buyout from parent company Northern Foods with potential investors and was acting without authority.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the matter is still an ongoing legal matter.
Mr Court-Johnson has said he believed he was acting with authority from Northern Food.
Peter’s Food Service produces over 3 million pastries every week, employs 700 people and has an annual turnover of £65m.
