Caerphilly County Borough Schools’ Young Contemporary Musician of the Year 2010

A student from Lewis School, Pengam, has scooped the top award at this year’s Caerphilly County Borough Schools’ Young Contemporary Musician of the Year competition.

Calum Orr was crowned Contemporary Young Musician of the Year after he wowed the judges with his performance on his electric guitar.

Pupils from Lewis School, Pengam, took the top three titles on offer at the event. Joel Price was awarded the title of Caerphilly County Borough Schools’ Young Contemporary Singer of the Year 2010 and Daniel Hulett was announced as Young Contemporary Composer of the Year 2010 after submitting a composition called ‘Colour Coded’.

In total there were 153 entries from schools across Caerphilly County Borough.

The Mayor of Caerphilly County Borough, Cllr James Fussell, presented the trophies.
