Google campaign to get more Caerphilly businesses online

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 13:00, Monday March 12th, 2012.

Search engine behemoth Google is to help businesses in Caerphilly County Borough get online with a free advice scheme.

Google Juice Bars are to be held in the Valleys region shortly. The free one-to-one sessions for businesses will focus on how to boost traffic to websites and increase online trading.

The scheme was recently launched in Wales with Google Juice Bars currently being held in Cardiff.

Organised through Caerphilly County Borough Council, Blaenau Gwent, Torfaen, Merthyr and Rhondda Cynon Taff, details of the Valleys events will be published shortly.

Caerphilly Council provides an independent ICT service called Bisnet Caerphilly and the team is working with Google UK as they undertake a 12-month programme across Wales to provide free consultations and e-skills workshops to help local businesses.

Cllr Ron Davies, cabinet member for regenerations said: “We are delighted to be working closely with Google through our Bisnet team to help provide this excellent support for local businesses.

“Caerphilly is keen to lead the way in supporting the local economy and this new initiative will help our firms maximise the benefits of doing business online and we now look forward to the roll-out of the scheme across Wales.”

Google Juice Bar sessions are described as an active, informal and friendly way to ask questions about getting or growing a business online.

Bisnet is a free and independent ICT service provided by Caerphilly County Borough Council to help local businesses apply IT solutions both in the office and online. The team is located at the Tredomen Business and Technology Centre, Ystrad Mynach. Telephone 01443 866210 or visit www.bisnet.co.uk
