Multi-use pitch installed at St Cenydd Comprehensive School

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 13:00, Tuesday April 10th, 2012.

St Cenydd's new Astroturf pitch

A new £70,000 multi-purpose sports pitch has just been completed at St Cenydd Leisure Centre, in Trecenydd.

The pitch has been developed through a partnership between St Cenydd Comprehensive School and Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Leisure Services.

It provides a high quality, all-weather and multi-use, floodlit surface that can cater for many sporting activities including football, rugby, netball, and hockey and is also the first Astroturf pitch in the borough which can be used for tennis.

Jeremy Rowe, head of leisure services at Caerphilly County Borough Council, said: “The provision of an Astroturf pitch at St Cenydd provides students and surrounding residents with the opportunity to access various sporting activities during all weather conditions. This will hopefully encourage everyone in the area to live more active lives.”

The new pitch has replaced existing tennis courts at the site.

Bookings for the facility are currently being taken. Contact St Cenydd Leisure Centre to register any interest on 02920 881448.
