Funeral of Nelson motorcyclist held today

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 11:29, Wednesday June 6th, 2012.

Christopher Morgan, 28, died after being involved in an accident in Lower Machen

Mourners have been asked to wear colourful clothing at the funeral of a 28-year-old motorcyclist due to take place today.

Christopher Morgan, of Nelson, was killed when his bike was in collision with a camper van near Lower Machen on Sunday May 27. He was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport with serious injuries where he later died.

His funeral is due to take place today (Wednesday, June 6), at St John’s Church in High Street, Nelson.

Friend Jaden Pincott, left a tribute on Facebook to Mr Morgan and asked mourners to wear clothes that reflected his personality.

She said: “This celebration is for Chris as we all know and love him. Wear your best Saturday night clobber – your jeans and bright colours, shirts, flip flops or wacky gear.

“This his how he lived and loved his life and we all want him to go on a high as much as he lived for life.”

Family and friends will say farewells at his burial at Gelligaer Cemetery followed by a wake at the Star Club in Nelson.

They will pay further tribute to him with a procession on June 24 from Caerphilly to the crash site in Lower Machen.

The procession of vehicles will gather at 4pm at Caerphilly Gallagher Retail Park near Halfords before heading off at 4.25pm – the time of Mr Morgan’s crash.
