Newbridge is very much open for business while regeneration work is taking place, Caerphilly County Borough Council has said.
Work has already been completed at lower High Street and Victoria Terrace while the restoration of the Memo is well underway.
Attention is now turning to the town’s key junctions, High Street with Tynewydd Terrace.
Cllr Ken James, cabinet member for regeneration said: “We are pleased with the progress of the works to date, but we are also aware of the disruption and inconvenience that can occur as the regeneration works continue.
“We are keen to work closely with local traders to make sure that everyone knows that Newbridge remains fully open for business. Inevitably the works will cause some inconvenience due to the scope of the improvements but with the support and patience of the local community, we can look forward to an attractive and welcoming shopping environment that will benefit existing traders and hopefully attract new businesses and shoppers to Newbridge.”
Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Ltd, which is delivering the town centre regeneration scheme has said it will continue to work closely with local businesses.
An Information Centre has been set up in the Tabernacle Baptist Chapel on the High Street, where the Contractors’ Community Liaison Officer is available every Thursday and Friday morning to answer any queries or discuss the plans with local residents and traders.
The car park at Meredith Terrace is temporarily closed during the restoration works being carried out to the Institute building by Seddon Construction Ltd. A section of the car park at lower High Street is also temporarily closed while new retaining walls and steps are built in this area.
Shoppers are reminded the large park and ride car park behind the Calzaghe Bridge and all other car parks in the town remain open as usual.
