Work on new McDonald’s begins in Newbridge

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 14:35, Tuesday October 30th, 2012.

Building work on a £330,000 drive-through McDonald’s restaurant in Newbridge has begun.

Contractors Opco started the 12-week build last week with the restaurant due to open before Christmas.

Twenty full and part-time jobs will be created when the fast food outlet is opened.

Recruitment for the new positions has already begun.

Opco Managing Director Nigel Coulter said: “This will be a high profile very visible project at Newbridge Gateway.

“In all the scheme includes the building of roads, a car park the drive thru lane, external hard and soft landscaping and installation of street and patio furniture, lighting and drainage.

“The project is the first we will deliver for McDonald’s and we’re hopeful that success with this scheme could lead to opco winning more work for and on behalf of the restaurant chain.”

Mr Coulter said Opco would be responsible for the foundations and below ground drainage for the modular building plus all incoming services to the site.
