Senghenydd Post Office to move and extend opening hours

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 12:50, Thursday January 10th, 2013.

Senghenydd’s Post Office is to move from its current location in the village’s High Street.

The proposed new location for the branch is Cavanna Convenience Store, in Commercial Street. The move is due to take place in March and will see part of the store transformed into an open plan Post Office with extended opening hours.

The Post Office is inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a six week public consultation.

Post Office Regional Network Manager for Wales, Tony Jones, said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Senghenydd and we are confident that this new modern branch will make it easier for our customers to do business with us and also secure services for the future.”

He added: “The proposed changes to the branch are part of a three-year investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office, that will see around 6,000 branches (about half the Post Office network) converting to new-style branches. The investment marks a commitment to not more branch closure programmes.”

Opening hours at the proposed new location will be between 7.30am and 7.30pm Monday to Saturday and between 8am and 1.30pm on Sundays. The new Post Office will also open Sunday evening between 5pm and 7pm.

Customers will be able to carry out a wide range of Post Office services including cash withdrawal services from partner banks and Post Office card account, access to Post Office Financial and Travel services as well as mail services.

During the public consultation Post Office Ltd welcomes feedback on any issues customers would like considered before a final decision is taken on this proposal.

The consultation will close on February 14 2013.

Submissions can be made during the consultation by Freepost YOUR COMMENTS to Post Office Ltd, National Consultation Team, Wealdstone Post Office, 1st Floor, Admin, 2 Headstone Drive, Harrow, HA3 5QL, via email to comments@postoffice.co.uk, via the Customer Helpline: 08457 22 33 44 or Textphone 08457 22 33 55.
