Police investigating the disappearance and murder of missing Newbridge man Kyle Vaughan have released a man they had been questioning for four days.

Kyle Vaughan, 24, was last seen in the late evening of Sunday December 30 in the Abercarn and Risca areas.

A 27-year-old man from the Blackwood area arrested on suspicion of murder on Thursday has now been released from police custody.

A 21-year-old man from Newbridge and 15-year-old boy from Abercarn, both arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, have been bailed pending further inquiries.

Yesterday, detectives renewed their appeal for information leading up to Mr Vaughan’s disappearance.

The last believed sighting of Mr Vaughan, who is known as Jabbers to friends, was on the A467 between Risca and Crosskeys, some time between 11pm and 11.45pm on December 30 2012.

It is believed he was wearing a dark coloured beanie hat, a dark coloured t-shirt, ¾ length denim shorts, white trainers, and a gold chain.

On the same night at approximately 11.45pm, officers found Mr Vaughan’s car – a silver Peugeot 306 – which had been involved in a collision.

Officers are urging anyone who may have seen Mr Vaughan, his car, or anything suspicious on the road to come forward.

Senior investigating officer Detective Superintendent Peter Jones said: “Specialist search officers have been deployed and detailed searches of several areas continue.

“Family liaison officers are providing Kyle’s family with support at this very difficult and upsetting time.

“I’m urging anyone who has any information about Kyle’s disappearance, no matter how unimportant it may seem, to contact Gwent Police on 101. Information can also be passed on with complete anonymity via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”

Mr Vaughan, who has diabetes and needs regular insulin injections, is described as 5ft 8ins, of slim build, with short dark hair, and brown eyes. He wears a gold neck chain with a cross and has a distinctive tattoo of a pair of flaming dice on his inner left forearm.

Police have told Mr Vaughan’s family they believe he is dead.
