Help Wales roar into action ahead of the Six Nations with Peter’s Pies

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 10:00, Thursday January 24th, 2013.

Passionate young rugby fans across Wales are being given the chance to get Welsh rugby roaring into action ahead of this year’s RBS Six Nations tournament – with help from Bedwas firm Peter’s Pies.

Peter’s has composed a rousing rhyme to cheer on the Welsh team during the Six Nations clashes, and is looking for a young rugby team to help bring it to life.

The team who submits the best video of their chant will win the once-in-a-lifetime chance to sing their ‘rugby roar’ at the Captain’s Run on February 1 – the final training session at the Millennium Stadium before Wales face Ireland on February 2.

To enter, teams of up to 15 members between the ages of five and 16 must submit a video of them performing the following Peter’s Rugby Roar:

Wlad fyn Nhadau, Cymru am Byth
Come on boys give them some grief
You can do it, you’re the best
Put those others to the test
We’re so proud of our Welsh team
So come on lads let’s live the dream!

Clare Morgan, marketing controller at Peter’s said: “We’re behind the Welsh team all the way and we want young rugby fans to help us make some noise to cheer on our boys

“Teams can put as much personality as they like into their videos – whether it’s singing, dressing-up, dancing or even creating a Welsh version of the Haka – we want to see the passion behind the performance.”

The Wales Rugby Roar is the latest in a series of creative support for Welsh rugby from Peter’s. In 2012, the company, based on the Bedwas House Industrial Estate, created a 35kg ‘pie portrait’ of rugby star Jamie Roberts, after he was voted Wales’ tastiest player in a Peter’s survey.

Peter’s also helped one young rugby fan meet his hero Rhys Priestland, through its ‘Mini Me’ lookalike competition during the autumn international series.

To register your team for the Peters “Wales’ Rugby Roar” you must upload your video to YouTube and email your video to competitions@petersfood.com.

Teams are encouraged be creative, using props and dress-up as part of the entry.

All entries must be submitted with the signed and written consent of the teams club and their parents\guardians. The form and words for the roar and full terms and conditions can be downloaded from http://www.petersfood.co.uk/whats-new/walesrugbyroar.
