Caerphilly pie-maker Peter’s has donated more than £33,000 to the Children’s Hospital for Wales to help the Cardiff-based hospital buy new equipment.
The Bedwas-based company worked with Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity to raise a grand total of £33,685.42 through its Noah’s Ark range of pies.
The Noah’s Ark range features all the most popular fillings, with the packaging featuring the Noah’s Ark logo.
Donations have been collected from the sale of each pie within Peter’s food service division over the past 12 months.
The pie sales included popular flavours such as steak and kidney, minced beef and onion, chicken and mushroom, meat and potato and chicken balti pies.
Funds raised will help buy essential equipment for the new critical care unit, which carries an estimated cost of £1.2 million.
The unit is fully equipped by Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity, to treat the most vulnerable children in need of intensive or high dependency care.
Peter’s Pies has been fundraising for Noah’s Ark since 2011.
Clare Morgan, Peter’s Marketing Director, said: “We have worked closely with everyone at Noah’s Ark to find the best possible way to build awareness of the charity and to generate funds.”
Max Boyce MBE and Vice President of Noah’s Ark said: “It’s wonderful that Peter’s are supporting Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity by donating a very tasty £33,685 towards the new critical care unit in Phase Two. It makes me very pleased to see a major Welsh company supporting such a worthy local cause.”
