Haylemma Centre, a licensed riding school in Rhymney, held its first Annual Awards Night last month at Rhymney Rugby Club.

The awards were presented by Councillor Carl Cuss to riders in recognition of their achievements throughout the year, as well as recognising the hard work from the volunteers who have committed their time and effort to help make the centre a success.

Cllr Carl Cuss, who represents the Twyn Carno ward, said “I was absolutely delighted to present the trophies to the volunteers and riders of the centre.

“Haylemma Centre is a very good example of community spirit which is making an impact at grass roots level and helping volunteers achieve skills. They also offer affordable riding lessons to the wider community and I believe it is important we promote these organisations who do so much for the local community.”

Jeanette Evans, instructor at Haylemma Centre, said: “The centre is a member of the British Riding Schools Association and is also an approved centre for The Riding for the Disabled Association.

“The centre offers Equine Assisted Qualifications for all people with learning difficulties and also volunteering opportunities both working with the horses and general DIY and maintenance work.

“I would like to put on record my thanks and appreciation to all who attended the awards night particularly those who helped to make Haylemma such a success as it is today. Lets hope we will be hosting more award nights for many years to come.”
