Cefn Hengoed Post Office to move

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 16:00, Wednesday August 28th, 2013.

Cefn Hengoed is set to get a new Post Office under plans to move it to a convenience store.

The Post Office is proposing to move Cefn Hengoed Post Office from its current location at Gelligaer Road, Cefn Hengoed 500 metres away to Magnum Stores on Hengoed avenue.

The move will see a modern open-plan local style branch created at the shop with extended opening hours.

Post Office Regional Network Manager for Wales, Adrian Wales, said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Cefn Hengoed and we are confident that this new modern branch will make it easier for our customers to do business with us and also secure services for the future.

“The proposed changes to the branch are part of a three-year investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office, that will see around 6,000 branches, about half the Post Office network, converting to new-style branches. The investment marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”

The Post Office is inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a six week public consultation.

The branch is proposed to open in November 2013.

Opening hours at the proposed new location will be 7.30am until 9pm seven-days-a-week – an increase of 57 hours a week on the current service.

The consultation will close on October 4 2013. Submissions can be made during the consultation by Freepost YOUR COMMENTS to Post Office Ltd, National Consultation Team, Wealdstone Post Office, 1st Floor, Admin, 4-12 Headstone Drive, Harrow, HA3 5QL, via email to comments@postoffice.co.uk, via the Customer Helpline: 08457 22 33 44 or Textphone 08457 22 33 55.

I hope Gary keeps the shop cleaner than he does now
