Finalists announced for the Caerphilly Business Forum Awards 2013

Caerphilly Observer is among the finalists of the 2013 Caerphilly Business Forum Awards.

The newspaper and website has been shortlisted for the New Business of the Year Award, supported by Chwarae Teg Agile Nation, alongside business support company Wize Consulting and debt recovery firm Waters & Gate.

A record number of entries have been received for this year’s Caerphilly Business Forum Awards held in association with Business Edge, Coleg Gwent which will take place at Llancaiach Fawr Manor near Nelson on Friday, November 22.

In the Young Business of the Year (high growth) category sponsored by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) are Welsh ICE, Clothing Recycling Centres and Living Data.

CPS Wales, ISCA UK and Blackwood Embedded Solutions have been shortlisted for the Business of the Year with 25 employees or fewer sponsored by Caerphilly County Borough Council whilst Penrihw Nursery, Peter’s Foods and Bon Bon Buddies will be competing for the Business of the Year with more than 25 employees Award sponsored by Finance Wales.

In the running for the Women in Business Award sponsored by Glenside Commercial are Claire Lukins from Plant 2 Plate, Charlotte Burles from Parkmans and Alexandra Hunter from Alex Hunter DipWCF (Farrier).

Alex Hunter DipWCF (Farrier) and Plant 2 Plate have also been shortlisted for the Contribution to the Rural Economy Award supported by Caerffili Cwm a Mynydd alongside The Rock, Blackwood.

Tyfu CIC- Tyfu Café, Smart Money Cymru Credit Union and The Furniture Revival have been shortlisted for the Social Enterprise of the Year Award supported by the South East Wales Community Economic Development Programme.

A Premier Award for the overall winner sponsored by Broomfield and Alexander and a Young Achiever sponsored by PHS will also be presented on the night.

Tony Sheehan, Chairman of the Caerphilly Business Forum, said: “This year we have seen an unprecedented number of local companies put themselves forward for the Awards and to claim the recognition they so justly deserve.

“We are delighted with the calibre of entries and the judges had a tough time deciding on the shortlist – a testimony to the achievements of businesses of all sizes within Caerphilly County Borough.

“We wish every candidate the very best of luck and look forward to seeing them there on the night of the Awards.”

The Awards ceremony is being hosted by popular BBC weatherman, Derek Brockway.
