A 39-year-old woman has been charged with harbouring an escaped prisoner.

On September 24 last year, convicted murderer Wyndham Richard Thomas, 33, was arrested at an address in Caerphilly town after going on the run from HMP Prescoed.

Thomas was convicted for aggravated burglary and murder in 1997 and is serving a life sentence.

The woman, who has not been named by police, has been bailed by Gwent Police to appear at Caerphilly Magistrates Court on February 15.

Thomas, from Croeserw, was convicted along with, Alan Naylor and Christopher Chislett, for breaking into a house in Maesteg in July 2007.

Taxi driver Christopher Williams was fatally stabbed in the heart after he confronted the trio when he returned to find them burgling his house.
