A housing estate in Maesycwmmer is the setting of a new S4C drama that begins this month.
Filming was completed at the five-house cul-de-sac, which neighbours Bryn Meadows Golf Club, on February 28
The filming took place over four months from November last year with residents inviting television crews into their homes.
The nearby golf club functioned as a base for the cast and crew.
Welsh-language drama ‘35 Diwrnod’ begins with the discovery of the body of a young woman in her home on a well-off suburban housing estate.
Viewers are then thrown back 35 days to when the women moved to the estate.
The eight episode series explores the thrilling mystery of the death, where the residents of Crud yr Awel are all under suspicion.
Written by BAFTA Cymru winner Siwan Jones and author William Owen Roberts, the writers kept the truth about her death a closely guarded secret.
Only a handful of people were told the result of the story, and the truth was not shared with the cast and crew until the final stages of filming.
Series producer Paul Jones said: “It was vital to protect the identity of the culprit in order to maintain the authenticity of the story.
“The events of the drama take place before the discovery of a body, so the characters are oblivious to the tragedy that’s ahead of them.
“It’s up to the viewers to make sense of the circumstances and interpret what they wish from the clues we lay before them.”
The drama begins on Sunday March 23 at 9pm and will be shown with English subtitles which S4C bosses hope will help the series gain a wide audience.
Another massive waste of money, soon to be funded by the licence fee. When will S4C understand that's it's cheaper to dub English BBC programmes into Welsh? As it would cost less you can have more programmes bringing about higher quality TV.
Yes and while we are at it why not change the flag to a red cross on a white background, merge the Welsh and English rugby and football teams, and change the name of Wales to England Minor. Anything that keeps our heritage alive is NEVER a waste of money. Unless you want to be English with a different accent?!
i am english trying to learn welsh and watch most welsh language [subtitled] dramas .i think they are terrific especially the most recent one set around aberystwyth/borth.the welsh language is beautiful and programmes should be recorded in the welsh language.AFTER all enough people watch the nordic.danish,italian ,french dramas with their subtitles .please respect the use of indiginous language and enjoy excellent television.
While I have no problem with British TV companies following the current trend of making a series in a language other than English (e.g. The Tunnel), '35 Diwrnod' is truly a dreadful series! I accept that with only 21% of the 3 million Welsh population speaking Welsh, it has to be difficult to find competent Welsh-speaking actors, and I enjoyed 'Y Gywll' but the characterisation and acting in '35 Diwrnod' is terrible. I watched Episode 2 but don't have the stomach for any more.
Having spent 4 wonderful years in Abertawe (Swansea), I have a strong affinity for the Welsh, but they are being ill-served with this pretentious drivel.
Well, I’m quite enjoying it and I find it more interesting than Y Gywll which, though not bad, is fairly conventional once you strip away the local interest.
