The Caerphilly 10k race is set to return to the town later this year.

Following last year’s inaugural event, which had 1,700 runners taking part, the race will be held on June 22.

Organised by Caerphilly County Borough Council, this year’s event is expected to attract up to 3,000 runners and as many spectators lining the route in and around Caerphilly town centre.

Information about entry and prices will be announced by the council in the near future.

This `event` and all the other disruptive activities organised by the ` inflated` Costly, and totally unproductive, `Events Department`, in and around our town of Caerphilly, and, under the control of Councillor Ken James, Cabinet Member and Councillor for Abercarn should be cancelled.

The events Department should be disbanded, it is a typical example of empire building by the Chief Executive, it serve no useful purpose and the money should be used for the benefit of older people and children in the borough. Finally, there is little or no control over this department, it is largely left to run itself, the reason? Councillors want to take the applause but dont want any of the aggro the events cause to residents who are quickly and increasingly getting just slightly `peeved` this WILL reflect itself in the next local elections.
