Teen faces jail for Blackwood double stabbing

A 16-year-old boy who stabbed two men in Blackwood could be sentenced for up to 14 years, a judge has warned.

The two men, Michael Emmett, 29, and John Williams, 44, were stabbed in the back outside the Stone House pub in Blackwood on Friday August 1.

The teen admitted charges of malicious wounding when he appeared before Newport Magistrates’ Court on Monday August 4.

The court was also told how the boy breached an existing Antisocial Behaviour Order with his drunken behaviour.

He also admitted one charge of assaulting a police officer after he spat in their face at Ystrad Mynach Police Station.

The judge warned the boy he could face being locked up for 14 years.

The teen, who cannot be named, will be sentenced at Newport Crown Court on August 29.

A spokesman for Gwent Police said the 29-year-old stabbing victim remains in a critical condition and the 44-year-old is in a stable condition.”
