Around 50 visitors from Brittany enjoyed several days in Wales as guests of the Caerphilly and District Twinning Association.

Llanbradach councillor Colin Mann, a member of the twinning association, said: “This year marks the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Llanbradach-Ploubezre agreement and the occasion was marked by a civic reception in Llanbradach hosted by Councillor Carol Hopkins, Community Council chair.

“A special cake was baked to mark the event and the visitors were entertained at Llanbradach social club in the evening.

“Bad news for the hosts was that the visitors retained the Cy Collins trophy for the annual boules match – more practice needed for next year.”

The Breton visitors also enjoyed a trip to Dylan Thomas’s boatd house in Laugharne and the National Botanic Garden in Llanarthne.

The visitors also gave two substantial donations to the fund for the National Mining Memorial in Senghenydd.

Members of the Caerphilly and District Twinning Association host the visitors and also fundraise to cover the expenses of the visit.

The association is supported by Caerphilly Town Council and the Community councils of Penyrheol, Trecenydd and Energlyn, Llanbradach and Pwllypant and Aber Valley.
