A man with links to the Caerphilly area is wanted by police after he absconded from an open jail with a convicted murderer.
Daniel Wynne, 28, failed to appear for roll call at 4.45pm on Saturday October 25 at HMP Leyhill in South Gloucestershire. Convicted murderer Daniel Shankly, 30, also failed to appear. They were last seen at about 12.50pm.
Wynne is described as a white man, 5ft 7in tall of stocky build. He has a shaved head and speaks with a Welsh accent. He has a tattoo on his left arm with the name “Danny.” He was given a two-year sentence for assault with an indeterminate release date.
Shankly is described at a white man, about 6ft 3in tall of slim build. He has short brown spikey hair, is clean shaven and has a tattoo on his right upper arm with the words “Rip Nan.” He is serving a life sentence after being convicted of murder in 2001.
Shankly is known to have links with Weston-Super-Mare, while Wynne has links to the Caerphilly area. It is not known if they have split up or remain together.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: “It is believed they absconded together but it is possible they may have split up after they left HMP Leyhill.
“We would like members of the public who spot both or either of the men, to contact us via the 999 emergency number.
“We would advise anyone spotting the men not to approach them but call us immediately.”
