Newbridge man jailed over stabbing

News | | Published: 09:18, Monday November 17th, 2014.

A sex offender who stabbed a woman as she was walking alone has been jailed for ten years.

Darren Meredith, 36, of Hilary Road, was handed the jail sentence at Cardiff Crown Court on October 31.

The court was told how Meredith, who had denied a charge of grievous bodily harm, targeted his victim as she walked along Yew Tree Road on April 2 last year.

His attack on the 27-year-old woman, which left her with a cut on her neck, followed a previous attack on his own mother and a sexual assault on another woman.

Meredith will serve two thirds of his sentence before he may be released.

The judge also gave him an additional five years on licence once he is released from prison.

Darren Meredith is given 10 years for a serious assault on an innocent woman, Jason Grovell is sentenced to 4 years for killing a man in an unprovoked vicious attack….our justice system is an utter shambles and is constantly failing the victims and their families of despicable crimes.

Blame the politician and the political parties people still continue to vote for. Solitary confinement will sort it out.
