Caerphilly Council bin collection dates for Christmas 2014

News | | Published: 15:00, Friday December 19th, 2014.

Caerphilly County Borough Council has said its waste and recycling collection days will change slightly over Christmas and the New Year.

Collections due to take place on Monday December 22, Tuesday December 23 and Christmas Eve will remain unchanged. Collections due on Christmas Day will be changed to Saturday December 27. Collections due on Boxing Day will switch to Sunday December 28.

Waste collections on Monday December 29, Tuesday December 30 and New Year’s Eve are unchanged while collections for New Year’s Day have moved to Friday January 2 and those due normally on January 2 have been moved to Saturday January 3.

Wrapping paper (non-foil based) and small amounts of cardboard can be placed in residents’ recycling bin, larger amounts of cardboard can be deposited at Household Waste Recycling Centres. Don’t forget to take Christmas trees to these sites for recycling too.

Household Waste Recycling Centres will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day. Normal winter opening times for all other days are 9am until 4.30pm.

Caerphilly County Borough Council has also said the issuing of van permits to dispose of waste at Household Waste Recycling Centres will change over the Christmas period.

Residents requiring permits for Saturday December 27 to Monday January 4 will be able to choose a site as normal. However, residents will be able to use the permit at any time during the opening hours between December 27 and

The existing time slots will resume on Tuesday January 5.

If residents wish to use a van at one of the county borough’s Household Waste Recycling Centres over the Christmas period, the council would recommend that a permit is acquired in advance due to the closure of the Council’s Customer Service Centres.

The majority of the Customer Service Centres will close at 12pm on Christmas Eve and reopen on Friday January 2. However three sites – Caerphilly Library, Risca Palace and Hanbury Chapel – will open between 9.30am and 4.30pm on Tuesday December 30 and New Year’s Eve.
