Making money online – it is the dream of many would-be entrepreneurs and a new Caerphilly-based company is aiming to make it a reality for thousands of ordinary people.
ProfitSourcery has developed software that searches through millions of products from online stores.
The system then provides ProfitSourcery members with a list of items they can sell for a profit through online retailer Amazon.
It makes money by charging members a monthly subscription fee.
The company, based at the Welsh Innovation Centre for Enterprise, on Caerphilly Business Park, claims that people buying and selling goods using its system could make a 30% to 75% profit.
The company is the brainchild of tech entrepreneur Ed Brooks – whose previous company won ‘Startup of the Year’ from ESTNET, the Electronic and Software Technologies Network for Wales.
Ed said: “ProfitSourcery has been almost two years in the making. Our team of talented developers and coders have worked relentlessly to bring our system to market and we are proud to be the first market intelligence tool of our kind in the UK.
“A lot of people don’t realise they can sell on Amazon, but more than 40% of all products sold on the world’s biggest ecommerce site are supplied by individual traders and businesses rather than Amazon itself.
“One of the main reasons we created ProfitSourcery was because we realised how easy the Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) service made it to sell products and make money online. It’s a great opportunity for anyone to really make an additional income stream from the comfort of their own home.

It is a terrible idea! You can sell on Amazon without this website helping you. Pick an area of the market, buy stick, list the items, and sell. Amazon always shows the cheapest possible price someone is selling for, so the more people who attempt to sell on Amazon will inevitably lead to crowding out which will force down the price of an item making selling on Amazon more difficult.

Amazon always shows the cheapest possible price someone is selling for, so the more people who attempt to sell on Amazon will inevitably lead to crowding out which will force down the price of an item making selling on Amazon more difficult.

If one person signs up, then the business intelligence that the software provides is beneficial. Although, as a Market Trader on Amazon, you don’t require it.
If loads of people sign up, then the business intelligence this software provides is self-defeating. Potentially, you will have them competing against each other. And you would have had to pay for the privilege of this market intelligence.
Would you invest in this product? Does it have longevity?
Agreed with Edward. If indeed it works at all.Once the market becomes saturated with sellers. Instead of selling their methodology, why dont they apply it themselves.
