A 26-year-old Caerphilly man has admitted murdering a teenager at the Trecco Bay caravan park in Porthcawl.
Conner Marshall, 18, from Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, was found in a critical condition at Trecco Bay caravan park, Porthcawl, on Sunday March 8 this year.
He later died from his injuries while in hospital.
On Tuesday May 26 at Cardiff Crown Court, David James Braddon, of Attlee Court, Lansbury Park, Caerphilly, admitted attacking Mr Marshall as he walked back to his holiday caravan in the dark.
Appearing in court via video link from prison, Braddon showed no emotion as he told a court clerk he was guilty.
Judge Eleri Rees adjourned the case for sentencing on June 3 and Braddon was remanded in custody.
Speaking after the court hearing Det Ch Insp Kath Pritchard, of South Wales Police Specialist Crime Investigations Team, said: “This was a brutal attack on a teenage boy which has left his family and friends devastated by the incident, and brought shock and sadness to both the visitors of Trecco Bay and also the community of Barry.
“We would like to thank the local community for their support and patience while we investigated Conner’s murder.
“We know incidents like this can cause a great deal of concern and anxiety.
“The community support has undoubtedly helped us to bring the person responsible for Conner’s murder to justice.”
Conner and two friends had gone to a number of pubs in the Porthcawl area before they returned to the park at 1am in March.
Connor, of Barry, South Wales, was found seven hours later by early morning campers walking on the site.
A family tribute described the teenager as “a unique, caring and compassionate young man with a warm, infectious smile complete with a cheeky wink”.
He had been staying in the caravan park with friends and they spent the evening on Satur day March in bars in and around Porthcawl.
He was taken to University Hospital Wales and had been in intensive care since Sunday before tragically dying of his injuries on Thursday.
