Aber Valley Heritage Group has been awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service – the highest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK.
The group, which was behind the National Mining Memorial in Senghenydd, was among five groups from South Wales to be honoured.
The Friends of Newbridge Memo group, which are behind restoration efforts of the building, were also honoured.
