A Caerphilly woman who undergoes dialysis three times a week while she waits for her second kidney transplant is training to run Cardiff 10k in September.
Hollie Bailey, 23, will run the race with her father Rob to raise money for organisers Kidney Wales.
Ms Bailey had her first transplant in 2006, aged 15 after she was diagnosed with kidney failure when she collapsed in a dance exam.
Nine years on since her transplant, Ms Bailey’s new kidney only has 3% functionality and she is back on dialysis three times a week whilst she waits and hopes for a second kidney transplant.
It is the family’s hope that her father, who is having his kidneys tested, is identified as a match so he can donate one of his own kidneys to his daughter.
The pair are running the 10k on September 6 as a thank you to Kidney Wales for the support they have received throughout.
