Almost four out of ten child car seats failed a safety inspection at an event held by Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Trading Standards department.
The free inspections were carried out on Friday July 10 at Caerphilly town’s Asda store.
A team of experts carried out 39 free safety checks, with 38% of car seats failing with at least one fault. Most were minor issues which could be easily fixed, but at least one seat examined was unsuitable for the child it was carrying while another was incompatible with the vehicle it was fitted in.
Another testing event is due to take place at Bargoed Morrisons on Friday July 31 between 9.30am and 4pm.
