Residents across Caerphilly County Borough are being asked to have their say on proposals to cut the council’s budget by £12.4million next financial year.
The proposals, agreed by Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet last month are subject to a period of public consultation ending on January 8 next year.
Leader of the council, Cllr Keith Reynolds, said: “I would urge all residents to ensure that you have your say on our proposals to deliver over £12.4m in council savings next year.
“We have proposed a list of draft savings for the next financial year and these are now be subject to a period of widespread public consultation. The proposals also include a 3.9% increase in council tax for 2016/17.”
As part of this process, face-to-face ‘drop-in’ sessions are taking place at: Ystrad Mynach Library on Tuesday November 17 between 2pm and 6pm; Caerphilly Library on Wednesday November 18 between 2pm and 6pm; Risca Library on Monday November 23 between 2pm and 6pm; Hafod Deg, in Rhymney, on Thursday November 26 between 10.30am and 1pm; Abertridwr Library on Tuesday December 8 between 2pm and 5pm; and Nelson Library on Wednesday December 9 between 2pm and 5pm.

I am sure I have filled one of these in months ago. I see it has been delightfully ignored. I cannot be bothered to fill in another one. I do not want to give them the joy of binning my views…I want the joy of doing that.
I have a feeling that views from the public will not count for very much, I do hope I am wrong. The CCBC does not have a very good record of looking after money, spending money effectively, nor listening to the public.
Icelandic saga and senior officers pay scandal says it all, millions wasted and the same old story is trotted out, “Tory Cuts”. So long as people vote for Labour and Plaid the same thing will continue to happen.
Sadly come next May too many voters will be stuck down with a severe dose of amnesia and we’ll end up with more of the same……poor public services, criminal financial inefficiency and massive council tax increases.
I live in hope, a good start will be the election of several UKIP Assembly Members in 2016.
I note that these sessions are held when many working people cant get to them!
