Laptops, iPad minis and a Poppy Appeal charity box were all stolen by thieves targeting Twyn School, in Caerphilly town.
The break-in at the East View building happened during the early hours of Sunday, January 10.
PC Stuart Lewis, Caerphilly’s Crime and Disorder Reduction Officer, said: “This crime will certainly have an impact on the school pupils. Valuable teaching equipment has been stolen which will ultimately affect lessons.
“I’d like to encourage anyone who has any information on this burglary to report it to Gwent Police on 101, quoting log: 116 10/1/16 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
Thieves Targeting Town Centre Schools, Town Centre Churches, Town Centre Sheds and Garages, Town Centre homes etc etc, is there a clue here about the confidence of these cretins that they can target the town centre at night with immunity, and with little or no chance of being interupted by law enforcement staff, at whatever level?. The Gwent Police have effected a deliberate detachment from residents in the town in favour of disproportionate attention to the commercial activities in the town during hours of daylight and herefore having no staff to work the twilight shifts and night shifts, they go home! the Thieves come to town!. and this school is in 50 metres of what was a police office, does ayone know where the police are now???????
Crime and Disorder Reduction Officer – Is this the new BS politically correct terminology for a copper, what utter rubbish. Here’s a good idea for PC Plod, how about arrest the thieving scum as they most likely know who is responsible as it’s probably the same scumbags who are responsible for 90% of thefts in Caerphilly, the CPS stop being such a bunch of wet behind the ears lefty liberals and bang these no good criminals away for at least 5 years, a few weeks is no good because at the moment jail is simply a minor inconvenience to these crooks that is not working, and if these thieves are being housed in council accommodation then kick them out, and if they happen to be asylum seekers, bogus refugees or illegal immigrants then put them on the next plane back to where they came from.
I don’t think the magistrates have the will to punish, even when it is within the parameters of their powers. About ten years ago I applied to be a Justice of the Peace and did well, at first, and was summoned to a second interview. This comprised of a test where I was taken to a room on my own and had to read the evidence of a range of cases.
I was then put in front of a panel of magistrates and had to give my verdict on each case and was questioned by the panel on my reasons for verdict and sentence. I am convinced that they decided my services were not required because I was being ‘harsh.’ One woman magistrate became quite agitated and said things like “That is a very severe sentence”, her anger was plain to see. This was of course a hypothetical situation but she was very worked up. Lord alone knows what she is like in a real court.
That’s depressing. About as depressing as the knowledge that this was 50 meters from my house and was a result of us having 50% of the required police force of which only 50% are on the streets 50% of the time covering an area that is 50 times bigger than it aught to be. 50 more officers walking up and down our streets and lanes at all times of the day and night is what is needed and £12 billion should just about cover it for every other town in the country.
Now where can we get £12 billion from?
I’m not sure it is all about money, though I am glad that the cuts to police budgets are not as severe as the pundits forecast. I think it is more about modern attitudes and norms of behaviour. This goes deeper than frontline police, it is the way teachers have been prevented from instilling dicipline, the trend for parents not to correct bad behaviour in children and the multitude of lawyers all seeking a pay cheque.
The seeds of future criminal behaviour are sown early, the police have to reap this harvest of rotten fruit. Unless we as a society decide that we want to live in an orderly, mostly law abiding community and force the chattering class that leads us by the nose to listen to our grievances and act accordingly the police are always going to be on the back foot. I don’t think any amount of money will solve this on its own.
What about referencing these matters to Ian Johnston, our Crime and Police Commissioner, who appears to be satisfied with our lot in Caerphilly, at least he has`nt taken to the airlines anytime recently in respect to the increased criminal activity in Caerphilly so I take it he does`nt care, or he has accepted it as the new `norm
It is the new norm, that’s what worries me. If we keep on this path things will really start to break down.
I don’t think it can be solved by Ian Johnston, I would contact him immediately if I thought it could. We are undergoing a massive social experiment at the moment, laughable discipline in schools where teachers are more likely to be punished than naughty children, much larger numbers of bad parents, a post industrial economy with the low wages that go with it, uncontolled immigration, a reluctance by magistrates to tackle offenders, a lack of education and training for young and old, it goes on.
All these mattters impact negatively on social cohesion and this is reflected in the level of crime. I don’t say ‘crime figures’ as I gave up believing them some time ago.
The level of policing in the communities in Gwent is EXACTLY the sort of issue Ian Johnston was elected to promote and deal with on behalf of all citizens of Gwent, In fact, he has complete control of the budgets enabling him to do so, he is also responsible to tackle high levels of crime where it exists, he is responsible to instruct the Chief Constable when he is NOT satisfying the public need in respect to the publics expectations, but, I see no comment from him, at all, in respect to the extraordinary perceptions of levels of crime in recent months in Caerphilly Town.
If he wants the job he is answerable to the citizens of Gwent, including this town.
