Blackwood man, 58, killed in car crash on A467 in Newbridge

A 58-year-old man from Blackwood has been killed in a car crash on the A467 in Newbridge.

A Citroen C3 and a VW Passat collided just off the Trecelyn roundabout at 9.55pm last night, Wednesday, January 27.

Three people were travelling in the C3 and one in the VW Passat.

A 58-year-old male passenger in the C3, from the Blackwood area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gwent Police said the woman driver and the other male passenger from the C3 were taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport with non-life threatening injuries.

A 22-year-old man from the Newport area was arrested at the scene on suspicion of death by dangerous driving. He currently remains in police custody.
