A blood donor from Newbridge has been recognised for her lifesaving contribution to the Welsh Blood Service.

Wendy Adams, of Swffrydd, was recently presented with a certificate marking her 50th blood donation.

The presentation took place at a special awards ceremony in Cardiff recently organised by the Welsh Blood Service.

Presenting the award and guest of honour at the presentation evening, was Dr Keith Wilson, Director of South Wales Bone Marrow Transplant Programme.

Wendy was one of many participants who were also given awards for 50, 75 and 100 blood donations, together with awards for platelet and bone marrow donations.

Dr Wilson thanked all donors for their support and dedication to this life-giving and very worthwhile cause.
